# Building dashboards

> How Xura assembles dashboard blocks from a prompt.

Every dashboard is a stack of **blocks** — each block is one chart, table, KPI card, or list.

## Block types

* **Chart** — bar, line, area, scatter, pie, donut.
* **Table** — sortable rows with column formatters.
* **KPI** — single number with delta indicator.
* **List** — cards or rows with icons + actions.
* **Text** — markdown context.

## How Xura decides

The LLM plans blocks based on:

* Your question shape ("how many" → KPI, "over time" → line chart, "by rep" → bar chart).
* Data shape (row count, cardinality, column types).
* Any prior context in the conversation.

## Live vs cached

* **Live** — first render after a query. Uses fresh data.
* **Cached** — subsequent visits to a saved view. Xura hits the server-side cache first, hydrates from source only if the query is refreshed.
